Drugs in athletics could mean a 'Lance Armstrong moment' for the sport, fears Dai Greene

“Cycling had its horrible moment for a few years probably and it culminated with Lance, and athletics seems to be heading the same way.“But cycling came out the other side of it and is big in the UK and is doing well, and that is all forgotten about as best as possible, so hopefully athletics comes out stronger from all the negative press it’s getting at the moment.”Asked whether he feared a ‘Lance Armstrong moment’ could be around the corner,Nike Air Max Greene said: “It could well be. Who knows? You wouldn’t be surprised given the last few months if there was even more chapters to the story.”Greene admits athletics is in a far less healthy state than it was a year ago when London hosted the Olympics, though he believes the current pain is necessary for the long-term good of the sport.“I’ve always said there is no place for drug cheats in our sport,” he said. “More and more people are being caught, which is a good thing in the long term,Buy Cheap Abercrombie Bags and hopefully those people are a really small minority, and we shouldn’t let them overshadow what will be an exciting games and a great show in Moscow.“There are a lot of athletes there who will be very competitive, and there will be great races, cheap moncler jacket wholesale great moments. People should see that happening and focus on that rather than the negative.http://www.kadifashion.com/

Greene has other problems on his mind with the championships only three days away. He has not jumped a hurdle since his victory at the UK trials more than three weeks ago after tearing a calf muscle and admits he has no idea what physical shape he will be in when he goes to the start-line on Monday to begin the defence of his world title. The injury was all the more frustrating as Greene appeared to be running into his best form at the trials but he was forced to pull out of the Monaco Diamond League meeting and the London Anniversary Games.“We’ve just been trying to get on top of it on a daily basis, to try and get back to running, back to sprinting,” said Greene. “I’m just trying to make sure I’m in the best shape possible for the start line and I guess I won’t know exactly how it feels until I start running on Monday.“We’ll see how it reacts to a full race, but I want to give it the best shot I can. It’s not ideal preparation, cheap men's polo wholesale but I could be 100 per cent when I step on the start line and hopefully I won’t have lost too much fitness over the last few weeks because I’ve been doing all sorts of other training. I’ve had my best winter ever behind me so it’s just frustrating.”
