Impact Crusher can Reduce the Investment of Many Fields

As for the low-cost stone production line, using cone crusher is certainly a big investment, for this reason, it is advisable for the customers to choose impact crusher for the fine crushing of the materials. Next Hongxing Machinery will give a brief introduction to this series of crushing machine: The impact crusher is widely used in many industrial departments such as building materials, chemistry and coal. It is mainly used for coarse, medium and fine crushing crisp materials with medium hardness. Its advantages are high crushing ratio, simplified crushing flow and structure and easy manufacturing, and convenient use and repair selective crushing. So at the first step of all kinds of crush working must use the jaw crusher. This machine get a famous Vibrating feeder. It makes the crushing debir of cone crusher is sometimes near and sometimes deviation, it is installed in the rolling mortar wall of adjustment ring, and makes the ores be impacted, squeezed and bended in the crushing cavity and realizes the crushing of ores.

Working Principle of the Impact Crusher in the Stone Production Line: When the materials enter the field of the hammer, it is impacted by the hammers,China Carbon Sheet BMS9-8: 3K-70-CS, 200g/㎡, T300 3K, Crow Foot Satin ManufacturersDoor Sills for RANGE ROVER 2005 thrown onto the impact plate, and crushed. The stuff springs from the impact plate, is impacted by the hammers again, and thrown onto impact plate. This process will last until the stuff meets the requirement and falls from the machine. Adjusting the distance between impact frame and rotor frame can change the shape and size of the output. When some foreign stuff enters the machine, the impact frame will fallback, the stuff falls from the machine. This device can prevent machine from damages.

Wind Farm Called Giant Pain in the Neck

Dozens of neighbors of a $200 million wind farm sued the companies behind it, claiming noise and lights give them migraines, make them nervous and keep them up at night.
Read Courthouse News' Environmental Law Review.
Their dogs bark too much, dairy cows are less productive, and TV and Internet services are interrupted, the 60 plaintiffs claim in Albany County Supreme Court.
All live within a mile of the Hardscrabble Wind Power Project, northeast of Utica in the rural communities of Fairfield, Middleville and Norway.
Iberdrola USA and a slew of affiliates are named as defendants, along with Hardscrabble Wind Power, Atlantic Wind USA and affiliates, engineering consultant CHM2 Hill and staff acoustical engineer Mark Bastasch.
The property owners claim the defendants "carelessly and negligently failed to adequately assess and/or test the site of the Hardscrabble project to determine whether the subject project would be feasible and/or produce reasonable benefits to the community."
They say the wind farm - with 37 turbines that stand 476 feet tall - is too large, too noisy and too close to their homes.Door Sills for RANGE ROVER(SPORT) 2005
The 74-megawatt project began producing electricity in January 2011, according to the website of Iberdrola Renewables, an affiliate of Iberdrola USA. The project is touted as "home-grown" because the blades and tower sections for the turbines were made in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Iberdrola USA, which provides gas- and electricity-delivery services to 2.4 million customers in New York and New England, is a subsidiary of Spain's largest utility, Iberdrola S.A., which owns hydroelectric, fossil-fueled, nuclear and renewable power-generation facilities worldwide.
The plaintiffs accuse the companies of negligence, private nuisance, trespass and strict products liability. They seek punitive damages, saying that "all of the defendants acted willfully, recklessly, were grossly negligent, and/or acted with a conscious disregard with regard to each of the allegations set forth in this complaint."
The 49-page complaint details a litany of damages from each plaintiff, quarry plant from headaches and stress to sediment in drinking water and airport-like noises.
Plaintiff Diane Abele says she has lost profits from her dairy farm "because the cows have been less productive since defendants built the turbines."
Plaintiffs Bernadette Baylor and Richard Baylor Jr. say they have been unable to sell their house and land since the wind turbines were installed. They claim that because of the turbines' noise, they abandoned their home, now rent another, and were forced to file for bankruptcy.China Carbon Sheet BMS9-8: 3K-135-8H, 380g/㎡, T300 3K, 8H Satin Weave Manufacturers
Plaintiffs Andrew McEvoy and Theresa McEvoy bought their property in 2002 and 2 years later bought alpacas "with the intention of building an alpaca farm," according to the complaint. But since the turbines were built, they suspended the operation, into which they had invested "considerable time and money."
Plaintiff June Salamone "has increased headaches, nervous/tension feelings of panic and anxiety, dizziness, and sleep disturbance due to the wind turbines," the complaint states. "The thumping and whooshing sounds from the turbines permeates through plaintiff June Salamone's body" and she "cannot get an uninterrupted night of sleep."
All of the plaintiffs claim they have "suffered a significant loss of use and enjoyment" of their property and "a negative impact on the value of the property."
They say the wind farm operated at just 22.8 percent of capacity last year, "contrary to the intent and purpose of creating significant renewable energy," as the defendants proposed.
They also claim the wind farm was built "because of huge governmental subsidies to the benefit of the defendants" and "little or no benefit to the public."
The plaintiffs worry that "when the turbines become old and no longer function ... Herkimer County may be left looking like a vast industrial junkyard."
Rural Herkimer County, just east of Utica, includes large swaths of the Adirondack Mountains.
"Plaintiffs allege that all of the defendants have caused significant damage to the plaintiffs and that such damage is substantial, irreparable, and was proximately caused by the acts of the defendants as set forth in this complaint."
The plaintiffs are represented by Jeff DeFrancisco and Melody Scalfone, with DeFrancisco & Falgiatano in Syracuse.

Alternative energy grid stabilizing batteries, key to a future

It is no secret that a transition to alternative electrical energy generation must involve batteries unlike anything present in large scale energy storage or regulation. Rechargeable batteries must store the energy generated as well as complement those systems that depend on ever-changing inputs like wind or sun. These batteries must be tough enough to deal with the demands of us needy humans while having longevity and efficiencies that make it all worthwhile.Vertical shaft impact crusher

Yi Cui and a team from Stanford believe they have solved a chunk of the puzzle. They have devised a way to make batteries with electrodes that last far longer than current batteries and can deal with fast and frequent discharge cycles efficiently. The team achieved this by making the cathode and anode out of materials that allow for much easier conductance of electrons, and thus reduce electrode erosion or degradation, which is common with conventional batteries and leads to their breakdown.

The team made a cathode using copper hexacyanoferrate and embedded potassium ions into it. A hybrid anode, made out of carbon/polypyrrolea (a conductive polymer)China Carbon Sheet BMS9-8: 3K-70-CS, 200g/㎡, T300 3K, Crow Foot Satin Manufacturers, plus aqueous electrolyte complete the fundamentals of this durable battery. The cathode suffers from little hysteresis after thousands of cycles of reaction and performs at a high-efficiency of 95% at a discharge cycle of 5C (5 discharges per hour or a discharge in 1/5th of an hour) and at 79% energy efficiency at the demanding rate of 50C. The team claims they detected zero-capacity loss after 1,000 deep-discharge cycles.

The materials they used to build this potassium ion battery were cheap and commercially available. Their durability and resilience makes them excellent for putting up with fluctuating energy generation of popular renewable systems, in other words, they can handle the high demand and help regulate the grid.

Until we find the solutions, tire changer we will keep shedding light on all these options. There is no denying, we are moving closer to sustainable living.

Ice sheet retreat controlled by the landscape

India Education Diary: A UK team led by Durham University has found that the geometry of channels beneath the ice can be a strong control on ice behaviour, temporarily hiding the signals of retreat. The findings, which provide the first simulation of past ice-sheet retreat and collapse over a ten-thousand- year period in Antarctica, shed new light on what makes ice stable or unstable and will help refine predictions of future ice extent and global sea-level rise, the researchers say.

The International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has stated that one of the main challenges in predicting future sea-level rise is to quantify and model the interactions between evolving ice sheets, oceans, sea level and climate. Significant efforts have been made over the last decade to develop computer models and collect data in order to reduce uncertainties and understand the potential impacts under scenarios of future climate change.

The results of the new research from Durham University, the University of Sheffield,China Carbon Plate 600g/㎡, T700 12K, Unidirectional Manufacturers the University of Cambridge, and the British Antarctic Survey are published in the journal Nature Geoscience. Lead author Dr Stewart Jamieson, a glaciologist at the Department of Geography, Durham University, said: “Our research shows that the physical shape of the channels is a more important factor in controlling ice stability than was previously realised. Channel width can have a major effect on ice flow, and determines how fast retreat, and therefore sea-level rise,China Carbon Sheet BMS9-8: 6K-135-5H, 380g/㎡, T300 6K, 5H Satin Weave Manufacturers can happen.

Although climatic and oceanic changes are crucial drivers of ice loss, the research shows that the landscape below the ice strongly controls the speed of any retreat. Dr Jamieson said: "Our results suggest that during an overall phase of retreat an ice stream can appear almost stable when in fact, in the longer-term, the opposite may be the case. Getting a clearer picture of the landscape beneath the ice is crucial if future predictions of change in the ice-sheets and sea level are to be improved.”.China Carbon Sheet BMS9-8: 3K-70-CS, 200g/㎡, T300 3K, Crow Foot Satin Manufacturers..

Marine-based ice streams are the fast flowing arteries of ice sheets, draining approximately 90 per cent of the ice that reaches the sea. They flow through large channels where the ice can move thousands of metres in a year. According to the scientists, the unpredictable nature of ice streams makes forecasting ice-sheet retreat extremely difficult. If ice streams speed up they can cause sea level to rise....

What You Need To Know About Steel Fabrication

Structural steel fabrication is one of the terms one would usually hear in the world of metal fabrication, construction, or industrial engineering. By definition, structural steel fabrication involves the use of structural steel to generate functional parts which are connected through fasteners, flux, wires and such. The steel itself is a starting material for the creation of products. Other products made from metalworking, on the other hand, while created through a similar fashion, are not categorized below the process of fabrication. In essence, structural steel fabrication is creating a metal product by using the raw materials, in this situation, a structural steel.

Structural steel fabrication, similar to the other methods of metal fabrication, involves three methods, such as, cutting, bending, and assembling. Cutting is accomplished through the use of scissors, chisels, saw or laser light. Bending, meanwhile, is accomplished manually or with the use of bendingg tools.China Carbon Sheet 280g/㎡, T300 3K, Twill Manufacturers Finally, assembling is accomplished through the use of fasteners, adhesive materials, and welding.

Interestingly,China Carbon Plate 300g/㎡, T700 12K, Unidirectional Manufacturers the fabrication procedure overlaps with the other types of metalworking. Blacksmithing, that include the process of forging metals through force and heat, sometimes makes use of fabrication. This is also the case with welding and the work done by machine stores. As mentioned earlier,China Prepreg 125g/㎡, T700 12K, Unidirectional Manufacturers these processes aren't exactly categorized under the fabrication procedure but they do use elements of the fabrication process.

A piping and accessories company could either manufacture or sell fabricated metal components. Together with other kinds of pipings and bolts such as the U Bolt, fabricated steel producers can yield high quality fabricated steel matter for any project conceivable. The fabricated steel materials can also be bought by bulk or single items.

Structural steel fabrication is an add-on offered by fabrication or construction firms. How does it work, precisely? Generally, a fab shop will bid on a construction plan to create the fabricated materials that will be used on it. These materials comprise heavy equipment, stairs and railings, steel foundations, as well as loose components.

Energy Authority of Maldives reveals new alternative energy plan

The Maldives has become a loud voice in alternative energy advocacy. According to government officials, the country is vanishing due to the effects of climate change. The Energy Authority of Maldives has announced a new alternative energy project that may help in this endeavor.

The Energy Authority of Maldives has revealed plans for a new $138 million alternative energy project that will produce some 26 megawatts of electricity for the country. This ambitious project is expected to be completed within the next five years and will take root on the Island of Male, home to 30% of the country’s population. It is unclear what type of alternative energy systems the Maldives will pursue through this new project,China Prepreg BMS8-294 Manufacturers though it is likely that solar and wind energy will be prominent.

Talk of a Wind Subsidy ‘Phaseout’

The tax break subsidizes wind power by 2.2 cents a kilowatt hour to bring its cost closer to that of conventional fuels, and it has periodically been renewed by Congress with support from both parties. But like other subsidies for alternative energy,China Carbon Plate 300g/㎡, T700 12K, Unidirectional Manufacturers it has been tarred in some people’s eyes by the government’s investment in the failed solar company Solyndra and has become a wedge issue in the presidential contest. President Obama wants the credit extended, while Mitt Romney has urged that it expire as scheduled.

But while campaigning on Friday in Iowa, a state with a lot of wind business, Mr. Romney seemed to be opening the door to a different position — or at least allowing himself some wiggle room should a compromise be found. “We will support nuclear and renewables but phase out subsidies once an industry is on its feet,” he said, without offering more specifics.

Opponents of the tax credit say the wind industry is looking for a never-ending hand-out, but some Republicans support extending the credit as long as it includes an explicit phaseout over a set number of years. One of those Republicans is now pressuring the wind industry to propose a detailed schedule.

“It is clear to me that many of my colleagues have become increasingly skeptical of the industry’s claims that wind needs ‘just one more extension,’ to become competitive,” Representative Ann Marie Buerkle of New York wrote last week to Denise Bode, president of the industry’s main trade group, the American Wind Energy Association. “I believe that my colleagues will only support an extension if there is a timely phaseout of the credit.”

Although the association says it is discussing different ways to restructure the credit,China Composite Resin - Construction Structural Adhesive for Steel Plates Manufacturers it has avoided endorsing a phaseout, saying the industry needs a one-year extension just to stay afloat. Any wrangling over the terms of how the credit might diminish over time should be part of the more comprehensive tax reform effort Congress is to take up next year, said Peter L. Kelly,China Carbon Sheet 200g/㎡, T300 3K, Plain Weave Manufacturers a spokesman.

“We’ve always said wind energy won’t need a tax credit forever,” he said. “We’re committed as an industry to looking at options for the future of the production tax credit next year during corporate tax reform, when all energy incentives will be on the table.”

PV industry won’t see explosive growth

The photovoltaic industry will not expand explosively as it has until recently, said Wang Sicheng, a researcher from the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, at an industry meeting on Tuesday.

The global PV capacity of 30 to 35 gigawatts installed in 2012 will increase only 20.4 percent year-on-year, compared with last year’s 76.4 percent growth, and 2010’s 126.China Composite Resin - Construction Structural Adhesive for Anchoring (Bucket) Manufacturers08 percent increase, he said.

“The average annual growth rate hit 58.6 percent from 2001 to 2011, but global PV installation is expected to see a 22 percent increase between 2012 and 2016,” Wang said.

The prices of PV products dropped sharply in Europe, with photovoltaic modules’ prices decreasing 45 percent in the last 12 months.

In China, the situation is even worse. In the past six years, prices of photovoltaic modules decreased 86.6 percent, system prices were down 83.3 percent and solar electricity prices dropped 76.2 percent.

The price of solar electricity generated by a solar power station in Chongming Island, Shanghai, was 4 yuan ($0.64) per kilowatt-hour in 2008.China CC Composite Guard Board Manufacturers It is currently 1 yuan per kilowatt-hour.

The main reason behind the sharp drop lies in the overcapacity of polysilicon production. In 2008, polysilicon’s prices were $500 per kilogram, in 2011 they were $67 per kg, in March 2012 they had dropped to $28 per kg, and now they are below $22 per kg.

China is planning to stimulate the development of the industry.China 600 Width, air knife slitting system, glue tank system Manufacturers Some government bodies, such as the National Energy Administration, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance, have all received instructions to support solar power generation projects.

Do energy consumers benefit from competition? It’s hard to see

Is competition good for retail electricity bills? Are the tens of thousands of households who change retail energy service provider each year actually getting a better deal? In the energy industry, it seems that loyalty doesn’t count for much, because nearly one-quarter of customers move each year. But many of them could be wasting their time.

The energy consulting group Exigency has crunched some numbers gathered by the charity group St Vincent de Paul Society, and it concludes that, on average,China CC Composite Heat Insulation Bar Manufacturers people don’t get a better deal when they move. Indeed, in New South Wales, as the first graph below reveals, they are probably worse off.

Some explanation is needed. The “off patch” component added to the top of the NSW graph shows the average price paid by customers who have moved energy service providers. It is a slight premium to those that have stayed. (Take note of the high network component).

In Victoria, as the second graph shows, those that do move are better off, on average, even if the margin of difference is not huge. What is interesting about the Victorian graph is the fact that the network component of the electricity bill has not moved much (perhaps that is a benefit of the privatised transmission groups), but the energy component of the bill (the cost of generation and retail margins) has jumped sharply.

That appears to be counter-intuitive to the sharp fall in wholesale prices experienced in the NEM, a subject of considerable complaint of the major generators, if not of the retailers. Although, once again, under the “gentailer” model, some play on both sides of the street.China Kevlar Fabric 415g/㎡, Unidirectional Manufacturers And Bruce Macfarlane of Exigency says because the energy component of a customer’s bill in Victoria is much higher than in NSW,China CC Composite Cover Plate Manufacturers that gives the retailers head room to have some competition.

Radar technology can solve wind energy aviation issues

Aviation constraints are a huge issue for the wind industry. In 2011, EWEA carried out a survey and found that 19 GW of wind projects were blocked by radar difficulties in the UK, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Czech Republic, France, Spain, Greece and Ireland.

Many difficulties for wind farm developers come from conflicts with obsolete radar equipment and problems associated with keeping track of system upgrades over time. According to Renewable UK, for example, half of all wind farm developments in the UK will face objections from aviation stakeholders on the grounds of radar interference, obstruction or impact to low flying.China CC Composite Crucible Integral Type Manufacturers However, a new promising radar technology could be one way to solve some of these problems.China CC Composite Support Ring Manufacturers

Cambridge Airport in the south-east of England has signed a deal to use so-called 3D holographic radar technology. Its creators claim that the technology is the first of its kind that can reliably discriminate between wind turbines and aircraft based on differences in their behaviour.

When built in the line of sight of air traffic control radar, wind farms create interference that can adversely affect the air traffic controller’s view of what is happening in the sky. This new technology purports to clearly distinguish between the wind turbines and the aircraft. It therefore feeds only information about the position of the aircraft to the airport radar without the “clutter” caused by the wind turbines. This should give air traffic controllers a consistent and accurate view of the aircraft the entire time it is over the wind farm.

“Unlike the current generation of ATC radar that scan a narrow beam using the familiar antenna that rotates around a fixed point, holographic radar constantly looks in all directions at once,” say the inventors of the technology. Moreover, it “continuously measures the dynamic characteristics of each individual target, providing comprehensive information on all moving objects within the field”.

The difficulties faced by placing wind farms near airports have been raised on numerous occasions, not least by Finland’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy, Jyri H?k?mies. In the September issue of Wind Directions, when trying to explain Finland’s low share of total electricity consumption from wind compared to other Scandinavian nations, he cited the apChina CC Composite Upper Cover Manufacturersparent difference in planning laws around airports in the two countries. “When we were approaching the [Copenhagen] airport [for EWEA 2012] we noticed that there are wind generators very near to the airport so we were wondering how it is possible that in Finland they must be 15 kilometres away [from the airport]”. The research laboratory VTT has developed a simulation tool financed partly by the wind sector and partly by the Finnish Ministry of Trade and Industry to assess the potential electromagnetic interference. The tool simulates the interaction of radars with wind turbines.

Each country is obviously different and, as the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) points out, “each area of aviation demands its own solutions” with objections raised by both military and civilian bodies. Moreover, solutions are not cheap. A full set of technical solutions to all affected radars could cost up to £100 million between now and 2020, according to Renewable UK. This is a considerable amount of money, especially in the current economic climate.

But at least having the right technology available could be a sizeable step in the right direction for some authorities. If it delivers what it claims, this new technology could help ensure significant numbers of new onshore wind farms secure planning approval in the UK and maybe beyond.

Technology developments aside, it is important to point out that wind turbines and radar can coexist. Early dialogue, meaningful cooperation and transparency between stakeholders is key to solving the issues.

TEN PARTIES GIVE EVIDENCE AGAINST STRABOY WIND FARM

A total of ten parties today gave evidence outlining reasons why they objected to the development of a wind farm by Straboy wind energy on the outskirts of Glenties.

A specialist on peat bogland , Dr Olivia Bragg, stated she was concerned that there were gaps in the EIS carried out for Straboy Wind Energy.

There was a risk of peat slippage or a bog slide on the site and that could have implications for the freshwater pearl mussel colony in a nearby river, she said.

Cheryl Quinn, a mother of three living in Straboy became emotional as she spoke of how the development would affect her and her family.

Her home is 600 metres from the site, and she became the fourth person at the hearing to state that they would leave the area, should the turbines be built.

“I am concerned for our health and safety. If we are forced to leave our home , the devastation thsi will wreak on our family will be horrendous,” she said.

She said at least one house in the vicinity of Straboy was on the market, due to fears the project will go ahead, and she expressed concern that her own home would be unsellable now.

“Wherever my children are in Glenties, they will see the turbines,” Cheryl Quinn told the Board. “From the GAA pitch at Carrickbrack to outside the Highlands Hotel, they will surround the town.”

Ralph Shephard, an ecologist gave evidence of the existence of birds of prey like the merlin and red eagle within the site.

He said there was also a bat population nearby,China CC Composite Crucible Moveable Bottom Type Manufacturers and that such wildlife would avoid the area if there were 100 metre turbines, which would spoil their natural habitat.

Denise Boyle, a daughter of the artist and hotel owner Johnny Boyle, said the cultural heritage of the area had been largely ignored by the windfarm company when they prepared their report, and that this natural beauty, which inspired Patrick McGill, Brian Friel and musicians like John Doherty, was a valuable asset to the area and its people.

Solar PV industry eyes up to 25% power share in 2030

There are no technical barriers to the large-scale integration of solar power into the electricity grid in Europe over the long term, says a report by the European Photovoltaic Industry Association.China CC Composite Support Ring Manufacturers

The EPIA report, released Wednesday (17 October), predicted photovoltaics would account for 15% Europe’s electricity production by 2030, or 25% “under a paradigm shift scenario”.

But the industry has had to deflect claims it cannot support peaks and troughs in both electricity demand and production, and that it is overly reliant on the estimated €60 billion in annual subsidies.

Philippe Vermeulen, general manager at energy investors EnerVest Belgium, told EurActiv that the varying subsidy systems in different countries was the main obstacle towards a competitive PV market.

He said these were a “disaster for investment strategy and market confidence”.

The market for solar energy had encountered significant difficulties with manyrenewables firms declaring bankruptcy due to overcapacity, a resultant drop in prices,China CC Composite Upper Cover Manufacturers and a fall in government subsidies.

Tom Howes, deputy head of unit for renewables at the European Commission, said some in the industry had been calling for an approach to renewable energy based on “where the sun shines and the wind blows”, proposing to put PV only in the south of Europe and wind farms in the North.

But EPIA Policy Director Frauke Thies said this was not proving to be the most efficient approach.China CC Composite Crucible Integral Type Manufacturers

Cheap Ways To Use Solar Power For Your Home

Improving your home by installing solar panels can help save both energy and money, as you may be aware. There are a lot of great reasons on why you should use solar panels, from various government incentives to being eco-friendly. The following guide will state the benefits of using solar panels and give you an idea on where you can purchase them.

Did you know that straw can help you keep your home more energy efficient? They are a great way to provide insulation, and it’s inexpensive as well. You may not wish to build the entire home from straw bales, but you might consider a smaller building on your property.China Glass Fabric 420g/㎡, E-glass Fiber, Unidirectional Manufacturers

Are you a farmer? Farms are the perfect place to put a wind turbine. If you don’t have a farm, you might be able to rent from someone. Your home and the surrounding residences will get some free power. Don’t worry, wind turbines don’t take up a lot of room.

You can save a phenomenal amount of energy just by using less electricity every day. Unplug appliances when you’re not using them. Turn off the TV and lights when they aren’t in use. This may be a simple tip, but it does save you money.

If you dress warmer, you will help cut energy costs, which helps you to go green. If you put on a light sweater, you’ll be two degrees warmer, while a heavy sweater will make you four degrees warmer. So, to save some money, pick up a nice warm sweater and refrain from dressing scantily.

Choose environmentally-friendly lighting for your home. Compact fluorescent bulbs, CFLs, are affordable and environmentally friendly. They will give you enough lighting, while using a lot less energy than a regular light bulb. By simply changing a few light fixtures in your home, you can live more environmentally friendly and economically wise.

Think about installing a shower head that saves water. It gives you the exact same feeling as traditional shower heads do, but you save a huge amount of water. Your water bill will notice a significant reduction, and you’ll also be helping out the earth in the process.

Don’t use electric heaters unless you have to during the winter months. You can save electricity by avoiding these devices. A fireplace for the living area, wearing warmer clothing and purchasing some slippers are all greener ways of keeping the family warm. Cool air while sleeping is better for your breathing.

You can shave a significant amount from your utility bills by installing a programmable thermostat.China Kevlar Fabric 280g/㎡, Unidirectional Manufacturers These devices come with many different heating schemes programmed into them. Some settings are suitable for saving energy during the summer, while others are more suited to the winter months. You are also able to program these thermostats to regulate day and night hours temperatures.

Take the initiative to bump the thermostat by five degrees during the summer. This helps save you as much as 20 percent in cooling costs. Try running fans, rather than using an air conditioner.

The preceding article should have made it clear that low cost and reduced energy consumption aren’t the only reasons people install solar panels. They can easily be purchased, installed, and enjoyed for years to come. Solar panels are a good way to be green and provide a much needed update for your home.China CC Composite Crucible Moveable Bottom Type Manufacturers

In a statement released, G2A2 says the letter has come amid increased trade tensions, specifically the anti-dumping (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) trade investigations into imports of Chinese photovoltaic products, sparked off by two separate SolarWorld-led consortiums in the U.S. and Europe. China, in return,China Composite Resin - Structural Epoxy Paste Adhesive Manufacturers has threatened retaliation.
"As a result," reads the statement, "global growth of the renewable energy industry is currently facing a slowdown because of growing green trade difficulties between these major world economies, and deadlock at the World Trade Organisation (WTO)."
Positive progress on these trade restrictions is said to be underway, with unidentified leaders at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting held last month in Vladivostok, Russia, agreeing to cap green goods and services' tariffs in the Asia-Pacific region at 5%, and establishing a specific list of green goods and services. China Composite Resin - Two Component Expanding Epoxy ManufacturersHowever, G2A2 says more needs to be done to clear the way for green trade, particularly in light of other trade barriers like local content requirements.
In the Green Growth Action Alliance open letter, the signatories, which include Applied Materials, GE, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Suntech, the Solar Energy Industries Association and the SEMI PV Group,China Composite Resin - Construction Structural Adhesive for Carbon/ Glass Fiber Plates Manufacturers state that "negotiation is better than litigation" and ask that trade retaliation measures are not escalated.
Specifically, they pledge to work together with both governments and civil society organizations to develop global green free trade guidelines.
"We do not believe this is a 'North versus South' agenda," wrote the signatories. "Leading clean technology companies come from large emerging economies as well as industrialized countries. We all lose, and the environment loses, when we face trade barriers that prevent free movement of sustainable technologies. The global clean tech industry wants to compete on a level playing field where green tariffs and non-tariff barriers are eliminated."
They continue, "We would ask all national leaders to engage with multilateral trade organizations to liberalize trade in clean technologies, and we also ask other organizations to join this drive towards a pragmatic solution to the challenges we collectively face and the other opportunities we can collectively pursue."

First Solar Says Industry in Australia Trails U.S. by Four Years

First Solar Inc. (FSLR), the biggest maker of thin-film panels, said Australia is four years behind the U.S. in building large solar farms and expects its project with General Electric Co. (GE) to help spur the industry’s expansion.
First Solar is supplying panels to the 10-megawatt Greenough River project in Western Australia, the nation’s first large-scale solar plant. The GE- and Verve Energy-owned solar project, China Prepreg 150g/㎡, T700 12K, Unidirectional Manufacturerswhich started this month, may increase capacity to as much as 40 megawatts, the companies said Oct. 10.
“This is less about the size and more about the fact that we now have a utility-scale solar project in Australia,” Jack Curtis, First Solar’s Sydney-based vice president of business development, said in a phone interview.China Prepreg 125g/㎡, T700 12K, Unidirectional Manufacturers “The local industry can now look to this project and see they can be developed, that they can be executed. It will provide local operational data that can be used to bring the rest of the industry along.”
The Tempe, Arizona-based company estimates as much as 3,000 megawatts to 5,000 megawatts of solar photovoltaic plants may be built in Australia from 2015 to 2020 as the country moves toward a target of getting 20 percent of its power from renewables by the end of the decade, Curtis said yesterday.
Australia currently has 1,936 megawatts of solar projects using photovoltaic panels to convert sunlight into electricity, including just 19 megawatts at large-scale plants, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance.China Prepreg 100g/㎡, T700 12K, Unidirectional Manufacturers A large-scale solar project is defined by BNEF as having capacity of more than 1 megawatt.
Missed Deadlines
The Australian government in July started charging polluters for the carbon they emit to reduce the nation’s reliance on fossil fuels and encourage wind and solar power. The country also plans to invest A$10 billion ($10.3 billion) in Clean Energy Finance Corp. to help the industry.
“First Solar has labeled Australia as one of the more prospective markets globally,China Prepreg 75g/㎡, T700 12K, Unidirectional Manufacturersand we would agree with that,” said Tim Buckley, managing director at Sydney-based Arkx Investment Management, which owns shares in the U.S. panel manufacturer. “But progress to date has been limited,” partly because of uncertainty about government energy policy.
While Australia has the highest average solar radiation per square meter of any continent, according to the government, some projects picked to receive solar grants, including a venture led by Areva SA (AREVA) in the state of Queensland, have failed to meet financing deadlines and sign power-supply agreements.
“If you can’t create a sustainable solar market in Australia, it’s difficult to see how you can create one in other markets without strong government intervention,” Curtis said.
Landmark Project
First Solar completed its first 10-megawatt, utility-scale solar project in the U.S. in December 2008. More than 5,000 megawatts of First Solar modules have now been installed worldwide, according to the company’s website.
“It’s only by building a 10-megawatt facility can we then learn what the obstacles are to building a 20-megawatt facility and a 40- or 50-megawatt project,” Arkx’s Buckley said by phone. “The First Solar project is a critical landmark.”
First Solar and Sydney-based AGL Energy Ltd. (AGK) in June won A$129.7 million in government funds to build a 159-megawatt solar project across two sites in New South Wales. AGL expects construction to start in mid-2014, with the plants operating by December 2015, it said in August. The AGL plant will cost A$450 million, Energy Minister Martin Ferguson said in June.
Another First Solar proposal with TRUenergy Holdings Pty, which lost to the AGL venture in the government’s initial funding round, is now a candidate for funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency, according to Curtis. The Australian agency has about A$1.7 billion in renewable energy funding that hasn’t been awarded, its website shows.

Big Wind: GE’s Wind Business Is Growing

How big is a large wind turbine? When fully assembled, GE’s largest land-based wind turbine stands a third of the height of the Eiffel Tower. Its glass fiber composite blades stretch out more than 50 yards and sweep an area larger that a football field. It generates enough electricity at full power to supply 1,900 U.S. homes.

GE has installed 1,000 of these 2.5 megawatt turbines in 19 countries around the world since the first one shipped in 2005. (The most recent one started spinning this week in Romania.) China CC Composite Heater ManufacturersThe tally includes 338 turbines for America’s second largest wind farm, the Shepherds Flat project in Oregon. That farm, which spreads across 30 square miles of fields, hills and valleys south of the Columbia River, launched last month. The turbines, which are part of GE’s ecomagination portfolio, will produce 2 billion kilowatt hours of electricity per year, enough to supply 235,000 households, and eliminate nearly 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide annually, the equivalent of taking 260,000 cars off the road. Some 400 workers spent two years building the farm and 45 employees will run it.

I’ve Been Everywhere: Romania, Sweden, Estonia, Turkey, Oregon, Australia, GE’s giant 2.5 megawatt wind turbines are serving in 19 countries.

GE is the leading wind turbine manufacturer in the growing U.S. market, China CC Composite Heat Shield Manufacturersaccording to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA). AWEA said that U.S. wind turbines can now generate 50,000 megawatts of electricity, the same amount as 11 nuclear power plants or 44 coal-fired plants. Wind energy now powers the equivalent of nearly 13 million American homes. States like South Dakota and Iowa draw 20 percent of their electricity from wind.

GE has spent $2 billion on renewable energy innovation over the last decade, and last year the wind business received 152 clean energy patents. There’s more to come. For example, engineers at GE Global Research are looking at superconducting MRI magnets from GE’s healthcare imaging machines to develop turbines that have nearly twice the power capacity as the largest models today.

Says Vic Abate,China CC Composite Electrode Bolt Manufacturers vice president for renewable energy at GE: “We will continue to work with our customers as we invest in the next generation of wind turbine technology to power the world into the future.”

The cheapest power source in the world: Wind Energy

A new study from German researchers highlighted by Deutsche Welle concludes that wind is the cheapest power source in the world. That is, if you take into account that cheap fossil fuel sources like coal create additional pollution costs.

It is not easy to calculate the true cost of electricity from a specific source. China CC Composite Crucible Integral Type ManufacturersYou have to take into account that taxes, subsidies and special duties all add up to influence prices, including the environmental and health costs. Most people forget to calculate those last variables.

The report states that the least expensive energy sources worldwide are currently wind and solar power. One kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity produced by wind power stations on the coast or in the countryside costs an average of 0.07 euro (about $0.09).

Solar is more expensive, both because of actual production costs and because of the environmental damage done in the name of mining silicon. The report claims that “New solar energy plants in central and southern Europe produce electricity for an average of 0.14 euro per kWh. In Germany,China CC Composite Crucible Moveable Bottom Type Manufacturers the cost is about 0.18 euro when using rooftop solar panels, while in southern European solar parks it costs about 0.10 euro per kWh.”

Nuclear power costs about 0.20 euro per kWh, as the risk of nuclear meltdown is also calculated into the price. When we talk about the costs of energy from coal, we see that the enormous burden on public health and the environment places an additional cost of 0.09 euro per kWh.

If we must believe the results of this report, electricity generated from wind energy is even cheaper than the additional cost coal powered plants produce by pollution.China CC Composite Crucible Three Section Type Manufacturers

Now it’s time to put this report to action, and fee coal plants these additional costs. If we do that, people will reconsider their investment in coal powered power plants and re-invest it in renewable energy sources.

Local communities invest in Danish wind energy

Winds of 60 km per hour hit us as soon as we alighted from the bus at Hvide Sande – “White Sand” – on the west coast of Denmark, home to a community-owned wind energy project comprising three 3MW turbines. All that could be heard was the powerful wind:China Carbon Plate BMS9-8: 6K-135-5H, 380g/㎡, T300 6K, 5H Satin Weave Manufacturers the generators cannot be heard over the considerable sound of the wind.

I was joined by 40 policy makers and experts from 15 European countries as part of a workshop on 100% Renewable Energy in European Regions, organised by the World Future Council and the Climate Service Center at the Nordic Folkecenter, Denmark. The region serves as a living example of 100% renewable energy already in action. Wind plays a big role in this area of Europe: 87% of the country’s electricity consumption that day was covered by wind power, and, China Carbon Laminate Custom Made Manufacturersin Denmark as a whole, €16 million from local residents is being invested in renewable energies.

The three wind turbines at the Hvide Sande harbour were set up in December 2011. 80% of the wind farm is owned by the Holmsland Klit Tourist Association foundation, a local business fund which initiated and financed the project. Hvide Sande’s North Harbour Turbine Society I/S pay an annual rent of €644000 to the local harbour. The other 20% is owned by local residents living within a 4.5 km radius, as per the guidelines set out by the Danish Renewable Energy Act. This wind co-operative has 400 local stakeholders, and with an annual return of 9 to 11% the turbines are expected to pay for themselves in 7 to 10 years. The fund is used to initiate new business initiatives for the benefit of the harbour and local municipality.

Over 100 wind turbine co-operatives have a combined ownership of three-quarters of the country’s turbines. China Carbon Sheet 200g/㎡, T700 12K, Plain Weave ManufacturersThe price per kWh for electricity from community-owned wind parks is competitive with conventional power production.

Winds of change are blowing through the European energy sector. As we observe in Denmark and other countries, the co-operative enterprise model is highly successful, allowing people, local communities and regions to be the driving force of the biggest transformational process in Europe since the industrial revolution. The country is well on its way to achieving its 100% renewable energy target for electricity, heat and transport by 2050.

Governor Heineman Joins Edison Mission Energy and NPPD to Dedicate New

Governor Dave Heineman joined the presidents of Edison Mission Energy (EME), a subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE:EIX) and Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) Tuesday, October 16th, to dedicate the Broken Bow wind project in Custer County, Nebraska.  The new wind farm is able to produce enough energy to meet the needs of about 25,000 homes in Nebraska.

The $145 million wind project, known as Broken Bow LLC, is located in central Nebraska, China Carbon Plate BMS9-8: 3K-70-PW, 200g/㎡, T300 3K, Plain Weave Manufacturersapproximately three miles northeast of the city of Broken Bow.  The project, which will be operated by EME, is capable of generating up to 80 megawatts (MW) of electricity.  All of the power produced by Broken Bow will be sold to NPPD under a 20-year power purchase agreement.  The project is targeted to begin commercial operations within the next several weeks.

“I want to thank Edison Mission Energy for developing and operating its third wind energy project in Nebraska,” said Gov. Dave Heineman. “Your continued investment in our state and our natural resource enhances Nebraska’s portfolio of providing renewable energy sources.”

“Nebraska is a great place for wind energy investment and Nebraska Public Power District is an outstanding utility partner to distribute that energy to its customers,” said Pedro Pizarro, president of EME.  “We look forward to completing construction and starting operations by year-end at yet another wind farm in Nebraska, the Crofton Bluffs project in Knox County.”

“This is another major step forward in NPPD’s strategic goal of having 10 percent of our energy mix by 2020 to come from renewable energy sources,” said NPPD President and CEO Pat Pope. “Our public power partners value this opportunity in adding additional renewable energy to their resource mix.” NPPD has established power sales agreements with Omaha Public Power District, Lincoln Electric System, and the City of Grand Island to purchase some of the output from the wind farm.

Construction of Broken Bow is taking approximately one year to complete. During its peak construction phase, the project employed approximately 100 individuals at the site.  During construction, the project contributed approximately $5.6 million to the state in sales tax revenues.

The wind farm will provide average annual tax revenues of approximately $600,000 over the next 25 years in property taxes and state income taxes.  In addition, Broken Bow will generate an average of $540,000 per year in lease royalties to local landowners.  Operations at the wind farm will provide seven permanent jobs in the Broken Bow area.

EME President Pedro Pizarro presented a $20,000 donation to Broken Bow School Superintendent Mark Sievering in support of the Broken Bow Public Schools Foundation’s capital campaign for the North Park Elementary gymnasium improvements.

The facility is powered by 50 wind turbines,China Carbon Plate BMS9-8: 3K-70-CS, 200g/㎡, T300 3K, Crow Foot Satin Manufacturers each capable of producing 1.6 MW of power at peak output.  The turbines are mounted on 80-meter high towers.  The wind farm site occupies approximately 14,000 acres of land.

EME is the sixth largest operator of wind energy projects in the U.S. and the largest in Nebraska.  EME operates two other wind farms in Nebraska which also sell their output to NPPD – the 80 MW Elkhorn Ridge wind farm near Bloomfield in Knox County and the 80 MW Laredo Ridge wind farm near Petersburg in Boone County.  The Elkhorn Ridge facility began operation in 2009 and is majority-owned by EME, with one-third owned by Nebraska employee-owners of Tenaska, a privately-held energy company headquartered in Omaha.  Laredo Ridge, which is 100 percent owned and operated by EME,China Carbon Plate BMS9-8: 3K-135-8H, 380g/㎡, T300 3K, 8H Satin Weave Manufacturerswas commissioned in November of 2010.  The 40 MW Crofton Bluffs wind farm, which is adjacent to the Elkhorn Ridge site, is currently under construction and is expected to be operational by year-end 2012.

Carbon prepreg woven in 3 dimensions around Balsa cores!

The latest boards from The Uglie Carnie Laboratories have all been made from some rather interesting materials and techniques.

The First board was an update on my first Chubbie Mistress that I made in 2007 from foam, wet bagged carbon, kevlar and a thin sheet of wood. I have since progressed the build to eliminate the flex, prepreg longitudinally and torsional that I could feel in the 2007 Chubbie by making the drops from solid carbon fibre. 30+ layers of carbon prepreg uni were stacked to create some of the stiffest drops I have ever ridden. This board was made from a heavy weight of carbon prepreg with balsa foot pan, solid carbon drops and timber rails and truck mounts.

The second board is a balsa core (stronger in shear and compression that foams) with a carbon prepreg torsion box that morphs into solid carbon nose and tail mounts that have a carbon blade stiffening system to produce a very responsive ride. The way that the carbon nose and tail are folded create the same stiff ride as the board above but reduce the weight of the board by almost 20%. The skins are carbon prepreg and were set off with a single wood pinline and cedar rails.carbon sheet The way the nose and tail is shaped creates a very locky pocket for all you freeriding fiends!

The third board has a carbon shear web, glass skins , balsa core and wood rails in the same corseted template as above with 15mm drops, deep double U concave and a fabric bottom. This board has a small amount of flex for carving and was a board built to explore ways of building light (1.35kg ungripped) board from cheaper materials other than full carbon.carbon cloth This board has a small amount of give but then "bottoms out", what is happening is the glass is giving way but then as the carbon shear web is stretched its fibres start acting in tension and stops the flex dead in its tracks.

They make look nice BUT the kicker is the ride. I have spent a lot of time working on developing the laminate to work as a 3 dimensional structure so when you apply any pressure along the rail of a board this energy and force is transferred as efficiently to the trucks as possible.

The Carbon boards are HYPER responsive and the riders have all said that the boards could run a set of cones because they are so willing to go exactly where and how you want.carbon prepreg

The 3d carbon structure also adds a huge amount of robustness as the light weight core is no longer relying on its bond to the skins to distribute the forces as the internal structure now carry these loads. This build method stops my boards going soft as quickly over time (my board from 2007 is only just starting to feel slightly tired). The thick square rails with a wood bumper also protect this board from the punishment I expect and demand from each new owner.

feel free to head on over to Uglie Carnie Longboards and check out my building blog. Also feel free to ask about any of the boards you may find.

Boards are for the road, for the race track, for the stoke and NOT to just hang on the wall!

Astronomers find diamond planet twice the size of Earth

Forget a diamond the size of the Ritz – astronomers have discovered a planet partly made out of diamond, and at an incredible 40 light years away from Earth, it is visible to the naked eye.

While visually appealing, with no atmosphere and temperatures reaching 1,648 degrees Celsius it’s hardly habitable.

The incredibly hot, rocky planet, called Cancri e,prepreg has a mass eight times greater than our planet and orbits a sun-like star visible to the naked eye in the constellation of Cancer. It orbits at hyper speed, moving so fast that its years last only 18 hours.

In addition to diamond the planet appears to be composed of carbon, iron, silicon and carbide; in contrast to Earth, which is low in carbon. Its carbon-rich composition could influence the planet’s thermal characteristics and plate tectonics, with implications for volcanoes, earthquakes and mountain formation.

The study, carried out by a US-French research team at the Institute de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planetologie in Toulouse, carbon sheetFrance, believes that a third of the planet’s mass – the equivalent of about three Earth masses – could be diamond.

Nikku Madhusudhan, one of the lead researchers whose findings are due to be published in the journal Astrophysical Journal Letters, told Reuters, “The surface of this planet is likely covered in graphite and diamond rather than water and graphite.”

Diamond planets have been discovered before, but this is the first time one has been seen orbiting a sun-like star.

Madhusudhan explained that this was the first glimpse of a rocky world with a fundamentally different chemistry from Earth’s. He added that the discovery of the carbon-rich planet means that distant rocky planets can no longer be assumed to be similar to Earth – namely to have atmospheres, interiors, carbon clothchemical constituents or biologies like Earth.

David Spergel, an astronomer at Princeton University, explained that while it was quite simple to work out the basic history and structure of a star once you know its mass and age, carbon prepreg planets were much more complex.

“This ‘diamond-rich super-Earth’ is likely just one example of the rich sets of discoveries that await us as we begin to explore planets around nearby stars,” he said.

But any fortune hunters will be thwarted by the distance involved in astronomy, as Cancri e is about 40 light years – or 230 trillion miles – from Earth. (RT News).

How to care carbon wheels and other parts

Drop by our shop and hold a carbon handlebar, seatpost or fork, or better, lift one of our full-carbon dream machines, and you'll be startled at how little they weigh. The real surprise, though, prepreg comes on rides, when the featherweight and beautiful miracle material transfers more of your effort to the ground, dazzling you with acceleration, climbing, control and even comfort, superior to anything Best Wheelset you've pedaled before.
Carbon is so light and tough that Boeing picked it for their 787 "Dreamliner" jet. It's over 80% carbon, including the fuselage, which seats 300-plus passengers. And, perhaps the ultimate Roue Carbone 38mm ever, carbon sheetis the 197-foot-wide wing. With the Dreamliner's 360,000-pound takeoff weight and Mach 0.85 cruising speed, this amazing and gossamer carbon structure must withstand a lift force of some 450,000 pounds.
Yet, even with incredible strength and toughness like this, with a single indiscriminate act like clamping your carbon wheels wonder wrong in your repair stand, over torquing with an Allen wrench, carbon clothor letting the handlebars swing around and smash into the top tube, you can do some serious damage.
It's possible because carbon bike wheels has very different qualities than steel, aluminum and titanium, which you've probably ridden before. Unlike these metals, carbon is a synthetic composite material comprised of fibers soaked in epoxy resin and then compressed, heated and cured. Essentially, your carbon jewel is made up of a super-strong fabric, which requires a little new know-how on your part. The foremost being that while metal shows signs of damage, typically bends, carbon prepregdents or bulges, carbon bicycle wheels may appear normal, yet, if compromised enough, even though you can't see the defect, the component could fail without warning. Another issue is notch sensitivity, which means that deep cuts, gouges or scratches can cause carbon to break and should be inspected by a pro immediately (and avoided!).
Now that we've got your attention, there's really no reason for concern as long as you treat your carbon gear correctly. To help, we asked our mechanics for their best tips, picked the brains of every industry carbon guru we know, and culled information from the major Bicycle Wheelset and component leaders' websites to bring you this guide to caring for and maintaining your carbon bicycles and components.

Ford developing new techniques for the use of carbon fiber

Ford is one of the brands that surprised me personally in the last two years. New technologies and developments quite intelligent are the reasons why Ford has positively impacted me.prepreg A brand that is developing new cleaner and greener technologies, designing vehicles discounts without despising some good finishes and ride comfort worthy of any premium German. But Ford’s philosophy is to go beyond and apparently is developing a technique based on CFRP which could improve the final costs of production.carbon sheet A direct blow to the waterline of the leading brands in the automotive world, no doubt.

Very recently and talked about the future of Ford with the 2012 Go Further to that we had the opportunity to attend. And if anything it was clear from that world event is that Ford wants to keep growing, and not in any way. carbon sheetsThey seek to improve in all segments with new technologies that drive the value of efficiency and performance for all their new models. That is why we have recently seen that Ford walks involved in developing new gearboxes 9 and 10 speeds.

But there are many factors involved in the creation of more efficient models.carbon fabric Speak weight. That is why Ford is investing in new technologies to implement in a production line the CFRP technology (i.e. Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic). A technology that we have spoken at length in the past and it is not new to the big brands. It will be a technology that would greatly reduce the final weight of certain components while maintaining the rigidity of materials such as steel. carbon clothThus Ford said it would be able to save on average about 340 kg in each model.

That way everyone would benefit, but the problem is that the implementation of the road cars is an expensive CFRP. And Ford wants to improve this factor patterns redefining the impregnation process all fabric must suffer before becoming rigid. Thus, it would be a “quick, stable and suitable way to treat the CFRP with a high degree of finishing and quality.”

Apple on carbon fiber: "tired", unexciting look

Despite the many benefits of carbon fiber composites, such composites are typically black and the carbon fibers are typically visible on the composite surface. In addition, the fibers (either as a unidirectional, prepregwoven, or nonwoven substrate) are typically variable in their construction and therefore are variable in their surface presentation. As a result, the resulting carbon fiber composite can have cosmetic imperfections that reduce the aesthetic appearance of the molded article formed therefrom. Further, carbon fiber composites, often being black, provide a narrow range of surface appearance to the molded article and therefore may give a "tired", carbon sheetsunexciting look.

From the summary:

A composite laminate having an improved cosmetic surface is presented herein. The composite laminate includes a plurality of sheets of preimpregnated material, or prepreg, stacked one over another and a scrim layer provided on an exterior surface of the sheets of prepreg. The scrim layer and the sheets of prepreg form a composite laminate whereby the scrim layer constitutes an outer, exposed surface of the composite laminate. Each sheet of prepreg is made from fibers preimpregnated with resin, and the fibers of the prepreg may be substantially parallel or woven carbon fibers. The scrim layer may be a glass fiber or carbon fiber scrim, or veil, that has absorbed resin from the sheets of prepreg during a molding process. In another embodiment, carbon cloththe composite laminate includes a plurality of sheets of prepreg stacked one over another and first and second scrim layers provided on opposing exterior surfaces of the sheets of prepreg, whereby the sheets of prepreg are sandwiched between the first and second scrim layers. The first and second scrim layers constitute exposed surfaces of the composite laminate.

The first claim:

A composite laminate comprising:a plurality of sheets of prepreg, the sheets being stacked one over another, each sheet of prepreg including fibers preimpregnated with resin;cc composite anda scrim layer provided on an exterior surface of the plurality of sheets of prepreg, wherein the scrim layer and the sheets of prepreg form a composite laminate whereby the scrim layer constitutes an outer, exposed surface of the composite laminate.

Carbon fiber tech center for wind and more

Zoltek 300x163Carbon-fiber manufacturer Zoltek Corp. has taken a step toward growing its carbon fiber prepreg capabilities by expanding into a new 135,000 ft2 facility near St. Louis, Mo. The new facility will house Zoltek’s prepreg manufacturing and new Technical Center.prepreg

The company says it is making the move in response to the growing demand of a low-cost carbon fiber prepreg supply in wind energy and other applications. “Our strategy has been to commercialize carbon fiber and broaden its use in industrial applications through low-cost and supply availability”, says CEO Zsolt Rumy. “Unfortunately, the current carbon fiber prepreg supply is fragmented and geared towards aerospace markets rather than industrial use. We are addressing this shortfall by consolidating the supply chain and forward integrating into prepreg manufacturing for select industrial applications.”

St. Louis is home to Zoltek’s headquarters and one of their four carbon fiber manufacturing facilities. The new location will also serve as a technical center for carbon-fiber applications, specifically targeting wind energy and automotive applications.carbon sheets

Wind energy is a leading application for Zoltek’s prepreg carbon fiber due to its unique and inherent characteristics (high-stiffness, high-strength, lightweight). Recent trends in wind energy have spurred wind-blade manufactures to create longer turbine blades. Carbon-fiber composites have proven ideal for wind blade turbine reinforcement, letting longer blades capture more wind energy, even at lower wind speeds.

Automotive is a growing application for carbon fibers, carbon clothwhere the strength-to-weight ratio of carbon fibers enables vehicles to be lighter weight and therefore more fuel-efficient. Other applications include offshore drilling, infrastructure repair, marine, and other applications requiring a high strength and light-weight material.

In addition to the two production facilities in St. Louis, Zoltek has carbon fiber manufacturing facilities in Hungary,cc composite

As discussed in our previous article on Polymer Testing Equipment

As discussed in our previous article on Polymer Testing Equipment, plastic is fast becoming the most popular choice of material in manufacturing industries. As many readers have been asking me to give some details about Plastic Processing Equipment and methods, I took out time to inform our readers about the various methods involved in procuring finished plastic parts.
The family of polymers is extraordinarily large and varied. There are,China Carbon Plate 160g/㎡, T300 3K, Unidirectional Manufacturers however, some fairly broad and basic approaches that can be followed when designing or fabricating a product out of polymers or, more commonly, polymers compounded with other ingredients. The type of fabrication process to be adopted depends on the properties and characteristics of the polymer and on the shape and form of the final product.
In the broad classification of plastics there are two generally accepted categories: thermoplastic resins and thermosetting resins.
Thermoplastic resins consist of long polymer molecules, each of which may or may not have side chains or groups. The side chains or groups, if present, are not linked to other polymer molecules (i.e., are not cross-linked).China Carbon Plate 200g/㎡, T300 3K, Plain Weave Manufacturers Thermoplastic resins, usually obtained as a granular polymer, can therefore be repeatedly melted or solidified by heating or cooling. Heat softens or melts the material so that it can be formed; subsequent cooling then hardens or solidifies the material in the given shape. No chemical change usually takes place during this shaping process.
In thermosetting resins the reactive groups of the molecules from cross-links between the molecules during the fabrication process. The cross-linked or “cured” material cannot be softened by heating.China Carbon Plate 200g/㎡, T300 3K, Twill Manufacturers
Thermoset materials are usually supplied as a partially polymerized molding compound or as a liquid monomer–polymer mixture. In this uncured condition they can be shaped with or without pressure and polymerized to the cured state with chemicals or heat.
With the progress of technology the demarcation between thermoplastic and thermoset processing has become less distinct. For thermosets processes have been developed which make use of the economic processing characteristics or thermoplastics. For example, cross-linked polyethylene wire coating is made by extruding the thermoplastic polyethylene, which is then cross-linked (either chemically or by irradiation) to form what is actually a thermoset material that cannot be melted again by heating.
More recently, modified machinery and molding compositions have become available to provide the economics of thermoplastic processing to thermosetting materials.China Carbon Plate Carbon Laminate 280g/㎡, T300 3K, Twill Manufacturers Injection molding of phenolics and other thermosetting materials are such examples. Nevertheless, it is still a widespread practice in industry to distinguish between thermoplastic and thermosetting resins.
Compression and transfer molding are the most common methods of processing thermosetting plastics. For thermoplastics, the more important processing techniques are extrusion, injection, blow molding, and calendaring; other processes are thermoforming, slush molding, and spinning.
Tooling for plastics processing defines the shape of the part. It falls into two major categories, China Carbon Plate 200g/㎡, T700 12K, Unidirectional Manufacturersmolds and dies. A mold is used to form a complete three-dimensional plastic part. The plastics processes that use molds are compression molding, injection molding, blow molding, thermoforming, and reaction injection molding (RIM). A die, on the other hand, is used to form two of the three dimensions of a plastic part. The third dimension, usually thickness or length, is controlled by other process variables.
The plastics processes that use dies are extrusion and thermoforming. Many plastics processes do not differentiate between the terms mold and die. Molds, however, are the most predominant form of plastics tooling.

Quality Assurance for Laser Polymer Welding Processes

Transmission laser welding of polymers is a well-established industrial joining method,China Composite Resin - Structural Adhesive for Carbon/ Glass Fiber Fabrics Manufacturers its reliability makes it particularly suitable for applications where very high weld seam quality is specified. A number of quality assurance methods are available when using this technology to safeguard the specifications demanded for the quality.China Composite Resin - Structural Epoxy Paste Adhesive Manufacturers These quality assurance methods are suitable for implementing a zero-error strategy, under very economically attractive conditions. This three-part series of articles discusses the different approaches.
In this form of laser welding, the laser beam passes almost completely unhindered through the upper welding partner until it hits the welding zone where it is absorbed by the lower welding partner. China Composite Resin - Two Component Expanding Epoxy ManufacturersThe pressure of the clamp tooling enhances thermal conduction into the transparent joining partner, which then also causes local plasticization of the polymer to create a secure adhesive bond.
When the laser beam passes through a polymer, the beam can be scattered by the presence of crystalline zones and glass fibers. Moreover, coloring agents, pigments and other additives can partially absorb some of the energy. Each of these effects reduces the intensity of the beam at the joining horizon. This means that the nature and quantity of the crystallites or the pigments, fillers and other additives within the components, can indirectly influence the laser welding process.
Compounding is used to determine the material constituents. This also involves the main definition of the optical properties of the material. Fluctuations in the level of dosing do not usually influence laser plastic welding in practice.China Composite Resin - Construction Structural Adhesive for Carbon/ Glass Fiber Plates Manufacturers However, for functional reasons, the optical properties should be tested prior to any modification being made to the material compositions.
In practice, a more relevant source of errors along the process chain is the injection molding stage. This has a significant influence on the geometrical and optical properties of the joining components because of the process parameters and shape of the molds, particularly in the case of filled, reinforced or highly-crystalline polymers. In the case of fiber-reinforced polymer components, it is possible for fiber agglomerates to accumulate in parts of the injection tool.China Carbon Plate 120g/㎡, T300 1K, Plain Weave Manufacturers If the injection point is close to the welding zone, there is a risk that this may be affected by strongly fluctuating transmission conditions. The transmission values can also be significantly influenced by unsuitable cooling down speeds when processing partially-crystalline polymers.
In addition to optical properties, the dimensional stability and surface quality of the components can also have an influence on laser welding. The properties of the surface of the transmissive joining partner influence the reflection of the laser beam when it enters the polymer component as well as when the beam exits the base of the transmissive component. There could be a rise in the reflections at the ejector pin marks. The dimensional stability of the component is a critical factor for the thermal contact of the joining partner. If no gapless join can be established between the welding partners when the parts are held by the clamping tool, this will hinder thermal conduction at these points as well as having the potential to cause thermal damage to the polymer at these positions.
A similar effect arises when there are notches in one of the joining partners. Damage of this kind can be caused e.g. by improper handling during the transport and assembly processes which take place upstream of the welding process. The effects range from local heat accumulation, and the overheating of the lower joining partner, all the way to the improper sealing of the joint line.
Contamination of the components on the beam input side of the overlying transmissive part can absorb some of the laser beam energy and lead to surface burning of the plastic. Although this rarely leads to a reduction in the quality of the weld seam, residues of this kind on the surface of the component are usually unacceptable for aesthetic as well as functional reasons.

EDM machining the smart Solution for machining Hardened Materials

Higher levels of Quality combined with outstanding service is key to succeeding in the manufacturing engineering industries in AustraliaThe team at ALNO Product Services offers a complete EDM Machining service, prepreg EDM - Electronic Discharge Machining opens doors to a range of machining solutions across industries. EDM machining allows metals to be cut with high accuracy, carbon sheet especially those with extreme hardness and complicated geometry, or those components where general machine tools make it impossible to machine using traditional methods.EDM provides a single and accurate solution for very small components that are usually difficult to machine in general practi    ces/machines. Die sinking reproduces, in a metallic workpiece, carbon sheetsthe shape of a tool called electrode. Injection molds for plastic parts are very frequently machined by die sinking. The shape given to the electrode is that of the object that is going to be molded. In the machining area, carbon fabric each discharge creates a crater in the workpiece - material removal and an impact on the tool - wear of the tool/electrode.There is never any mechanical contact between the electrode and workpiece. The team at Alno Product Services manufacture electrodes from copper or graphite.

Why Electric Machines Are Replacing Hydraulics

These days, electric machines replacing hydraulics happens frequently, especially in certain areas of industry, such as airplane manufacture, that require cutting-edge machines that perform perfectly, day in and day out. At present, carbon cloth many machine manufacturing firms are replacing hydraulic components of machines with high-tech electric components, such as electric actuators and drives, in order to create modern, efficient machines that meet the demands of today’s discerning customers.Typically, hydraulic machines, such as hydraulic plastic molding machines, are viewed as slightly outdated; however, since many companies can’t afford to invest in ultra-modern, fully electric models, it is likely that hydraulic machines will be used in factories and manufacturing plants for years to come. For example, the cost of a fully-electric plastic molding machine may be upwards of $125,000, whereas conventional hydraulic models may be available for as little as $79,000. People who can afford to pay for fully-electric models often make the decision to choose these designs over dated, hydraulic machines.carbon prepreg Electric models tend to require less maintenance than electric models, although any type of large or small electric machine will always require some degree of care.Electric machines are not without their downside; for example, these machines may be significantly noisier than hydraulic models. In addition, hydraulic devices, such as hydraulic motors,cc composite may offer more power per square inch than electric versions. However, hydraulic devices have their disadvantages as well, since they often leak fluid and require extensive repairs to function at peak capacity. In the future, it’s possible that electric motors and machines will make hydraulic motors and machines obsolete, composite resin due to their cleaner operation. People who tire of dealing with messy hydraulic machines may prefer to choose efficient electric models that have slightly less power and slightly noisier performance. Since statistics show that electric machines are replacing hydraulics more frequently these days, it’s safe to say that most people who can afford to upgrade existing machinery will opt for electric designs.
